Heritage Trail Booklet

The booklet, a Waimate2gether initiative, is a collaboration by local historians and features a walk around downtown Waimate focussing on the wonderful heritage buildings in the central town area. There is a photograph and brief history of each building. There are also photographs and information about notable points of interest, in particular the monuments in Seddon Park and a section on the history of The Waimate 50 which has become such an important event on the town calendar.

There are also QR codes with each image, which when scanned lead to the Waimate2gether website and much more detailed information about each of the buildings, monuments or people.

The cover image features the old Waimate Railway Station which is unfortunately no longer standing.

The booklet is available free of charge at various outlets around town including Community Link and The Information Centre. It is designed for visitors to town to use as a guide as they explore Waimate’s unique historic shopping area and also as a guide for locals to enjoy.
