Waimate Winter Festival was nine-days of fun events, workshops and exhibitions with an epic street party and light show thrown in!

The event calendar is bursting with around 40 events and most of them were free or required a gold coin donation.

A big thank you to all the groups, organisations, businesses and volunteers who put in countless hours to bring the Waimate Winter Festival to you.

We thank you for your time before the festival, preparing and organising, creating yarn installations, students’ rural recyclable art sculptures, dressing our town, learning Kaylee Bells “Boots n All” line dancing steps and running events. It was all so magical.

To the organisers for creating a festival FILLED with events, workshops, tours and feasts for our festival patrons...Thank You. We know how much time and effort you put into your events and your hard work didn’t go unnoticed.

Businesses large and small who support our festival through sponsorship, partnerships, advertising and getting into the spirit...Thank you.

To all the entertainers, artisans, creatives.....your skills and creativity made Waimate Winter Festival come alive and a joy for all the community. Thank you.

A Big Thank You to the Waimate2gether team who applied for funding through the Community Led Development Programme. Through your funding program we were able to put Waimate on the map, Thank You beyond measure for believing in our festival. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to put on FREE entertainment downtown, and deliver a world class event.

And to YOU those who attended the festival, programme of events and concerts, THANK YOU for supporting Waimate’s Winter Festival 2023.

With this being the first Waimate winter festival there are always things we can improve on and I would love any feedback for the future and any ideas you have. Please email Jo Sutherland:  jo.waimate2gether@gmail.com.

We have had very positive feedback from the community about all the events that were on offer.  People have loved having the opportunity to try new activities and meet new people. It was also a wonderful way to showcase all our talented groups and organisations in our community.
