We will be regularly updating this page so you have the latest information about the status of all the sections.

Please respect all trail notices - we put them out for your safety. This is especially relevant for our sections that are still under construction. Some of the trail passes through private land, for your safety and the continued support of the community please respect their rules, including No Dogs / Horses / Motorbike signs, Truck Crossings etc.

Current Trail Status

Stage 1 - Waimate to Waihao Forks

Early access! You’re welcome to take a test ride, walk or run along the new section of the Waimate Trail - from Waimate out to the Arno Hall.

  • It’s approximately 10km one way.

  • There are no toilets.

  • You can start in Waimate, or at the carparks at Studholme Bush Reserve or Arno Hall.

  • Please respect all signage and stay on the track. No vehicles or animals where stated on the signs.

    The track runs through working farms and they are absolute legends for letting us go through. We’re working really hard to deliver a track for everyone to enjoy.

The rest of Stage 1 (Arno Hall to Waihao Forks) is under construction.

Section 1A - Waimate to End of Studholme Bush

Rideable, but there are plans for track upgrade.

Section 1B - End of Studholme Bush to Kapua

Completed - and open for use.

Section 1C - Kapua to Arno Hall

Completed - and open for use.

Section 1D - Arno Hall to Waihao Forks

Construction has started.
